Engine out?

I remember a while ago there was a post on here from a member restoring an S2. He had photo's of the engine going back in and had made a cradle type device to hold the engine and cross member on a trolly jack. Can any one tell me who it was and if it was you can you put the pictures back on.I have to drop my engine to get the bay painted and would really like to know the design of the cradle.

Hi Colin,

I use it virtually everyday & have done about 4k miles since the rebuild. It is simply brilliant.

I'm midway through revamping my website so although I do have a few decent pics they won't be online for a while. The cradle was actually made to bolt to a turbo engine I fitted to my Golf, it was subsequently chopped about a bit for the 944. The important feature of it is the boss which fits into the jack to make it secure (much like a normal jacking pad).

started pulling all the bits off in order to get the engine out.Have taken the whole inlet side offas weel as the alt and its bracket.It's amazing how much extra space this give you.Engine will defo come out of the bottom.Have also removed rad and pop up light bar etc so front end is clear of rubbish.
