advice on engine mounts please ,I'm sort of asking for your experience of whats availible

theres engine mounts on design911's website for 39quid each

porsche shop also has them 78quid each

ive seen them at various prices else where

which ones to go for as my exhaust side ones bad ,and theres alot of vibration and movement
I did have a list of issues with the car and someone that really knows these cars said that could all
be down to either engine or gearbox mounts,I just forgot to ask him which ones to go for lol

The drivers side will always suffer most on a normally aspirated car. Turbos require both as the Turbo is alongside the near side mount, but Id always replace both at once anyway.

Avoid Porscheshop! All cars should use the later 'Turbo style' mounts which are far more durable. Id probably try JMG because he isn't out of the way on price, and you can be confident that he knows what he is selling (unlike ECP etc) and that you will actually receive the fluid filled mount that you need.

after doing some researching I cant decide which mounts to go for ,I was sure what I wanted ,read some old forum threads now I dont have a clue
meyle ? ones from frazer parts? design911 have engine mounts for 39quid surely they cant be any good for that price , which ones are fluid filled ,or solid rubber

engine mounts are an absolute minefield !

In one of the Porsche magazines currently on the shelf the staff writer recommended going for genuine Porsche mounts despite the steep price after getting a set of Meyle mounts from a specialist this time around around. He was saying that years ago he fitted genuine fluid filled mounts onto his previous 944 with similar vibrations to his current car and that it made a night and day difference in noise, vibration and harshness, but with no engine slop either.

This time around with the mounts from the specialist he was saying that whilst the engine had no movement unlike the old items, the transformation was not quite like the last time he changed them, saying that this time around some vibrations were still present.

As Simon says get a pair and get them from JMG Design911 or any of the specialists. And, yes there can be a large variation it costs between the specialists, but they will all be correct, fluid filled ones.

I am going to price them up but the reason that i'm having 'slop' from the engine and drive train might actually be because theyve been replaced with solid rubber items as they dont look like porsche items ,when I rev the engine from the engine bay there is movement but in the car that movement is vibrating the gearknob and the whole car at certain revs and the whole drivetrain from engine to box feels lose

Does not sound right, when both of my cars are revved , there is no visible engine movement.

right after all the reasearch and advice I'm going with porsche items well 'Item' as the passenger side looks absolutly fine I
measured it and its about 70mm but the drivers side under the exhaust looks visually much smaller (I can't get anything in
there to measure it ) it does actually look collapsed ,132+vat from porsche wilmslow each but theyre proper porsche parts
and there'll be fluid filled turbo mounts ,now the question is do I just do the drivers/exhaust side or both ,I need money for other
things on the car and 132+vat could go on something else I need
