Engine block cleaning

can anybody suggest the best method of removing the white aluminium oxidisation which is showing on parts of my 993 engine. The worst area is the casting which surrounds the air intake impeller. Is there a suitable aluminium cleaning agent recommended for cleaning Porsche engines?
 
A Face mask, Nitrile gloves, and Acid brick cleaner.....

Toothbrush and Scotchbrite or similar scrubbing pads, which the acid will eat away if you put too much on!

It's not the best job to do due to the acid splashes, fumes and smell etc..but it won't harm the metal unless you don't wash it off
within 4 hours ! with water.... then dry it with cloth towels or paper towels or an air line then do a search on products than are specifically
for protecting bare metal and apply liberally etc...

Just done some research on ACF 50 and it certainly looks to be the answer for engine block corrosion. Will order some and give it a try. Thanks for the info
 
I have just attended a smart repair expo in Germany and it seems the latest `gadget` for cleaning stuff is dry ice.

it is in minute pellet form and is fired at the item to be cleaned with compressed air. Apparently it will clean engines, plastic parts and cloth seats etc.
there are quite a few companies out there doing it,might be worth a look.
