Good idea or bad ?

Pretty sure I did my 968 with no problems, stayed away from the fuse box and dizzy.

What do you guys reckon ?

It will be immaculate but prone to corrosion (particularly on alloy surfaces) and cables seizure, plus electrical connectors that then get a fine layer of corrosion inside will work OK for a while but then get intermittent. So unless you keep it in a heated garage and don't drive on winter roads, it is best when it is fully dried out to liberally spray surface protector, and oil everything that moves. I prefer a nice oily engine bay which might not look concours, but everything works.

I think I'm with Prymaka on this. Steam under pressure gets everywhere.

Intention was to steam clean then dry the car thoroughly in the spray booth at temperature, after that all terminals etc will be thoroughly lubricated.

I've pressure washed it a few times with no problems at all ,steam is worse for the electrics but i don't think you will have problems.
Cover the coil ,distributor cap and reference sensors and if you want extra assurance do it with the engine running.

When you say "Steam Clean" do you mean dry steam or High pressure hot water ?

Genuine steam cleaning will be no problem at all it will remove grease and oil without leaving water trapped in all the nooks and crannies.

The more normal high pressure hot water lance cleaning will be similar, but I would not do it at this time of the year for fear of water getting trapped and possibly freezing later should we get cold weather.
