The third running of the East Riding Stages took place on the 25th February, the organisers once again were fortunate that the weather was beautiful. The event featured two new short sprint stages in Beverley Westwood, increasing the number of stages to ten.
A first at this year's rally, fielded by Craig Pennington and Wayne Priest under the Pennington Motorsport banner from their base in Baildon, was this beautiful 997 GT3, a beautiful creation and most welcome. The car has it's origins in Belgium and Porsche Rally supremo Johan Dekens.
Sadly Craig and Wayne's rally was marred by a few spins, the stages were wet and very muddy, many drivers in all types of car were caught out by the conditions.
We were concerned that the GT3 couldn't be extracted from the field near Dunnington Grange, but as is common in rallying, the spectators came to the rescue.
You should be able to see the GT3 at Cadwell Park for the Alan Healy Memorial Stages on the 31st March.
We are also hoping to bring Craig and his car to future PCGB events in R7.
Another car to succumb to the conditions was number 120, a Renault Clio RS2000

In the village of Swine, earlier flooding deposited mud on a tricky bend, the organisers placed straw bales to protect the wall of a local property, these were swiftly despatched by one Ford Escort which allowed two further cars to demolish the wall. The organisers are working to repair all damage as quickly as possible.

If you are interested in seeing the variety of cars that competed in this year's rally, the link will take you to a few images I took on stage 4 and stage 10.
