Hi

long shot I know but does anyone know this car? Im going to have a look at it over the next couple of days. Claims to have covered 40k only but has no service book.

Thanks if you can help.

Andrew

If the "40k only" mileage is a factor in your buy / no buy decision or the price you're prepared to pay then I would want to see a document trail to back this up. These cars are not difficult to manipulate the mileage on and they hide their real miles very well.

When my service book was lost in 1994 I managed to find all of the missing records from the OPCs that had serviced it and computer records are an awful lot better now!

Hi Glen

thanks for that. I was just drawn to the 40k mileage but its not a huge factor as there are pros and cons of having a low mileage car vs a car thats been driven and looked after. It seemed a bit odd that a well looked after cherished low mile car should be missing its service book. Id rather buy on condition than miles but the history helps in understanding the condition. If it hasnt got any then the mileage cant be verified and therefore I guess I shouldn't factor it in if considering the car.

thanks

Andrew

Thanks I could try the OPC I guess.

The garage says it does have some receipts (OPC and otherwise) etc which will help. Ive asked for the details but I suspect I need to go to them to view.

Am I correct in thinking the 944 is a 6k service interval? and would that be 6k or every 2 years?

Thanks

Andrew

Also Andrew go on the VOSA site and you can trace all the MOTs and the mileage they were done at. Have just done this for my 944S [:)]

Thanks Martin

I didnt know you could do that.

I think I need the log book as well to do the check. I will ask for it though if I go to take a look.

thanks

Andrew
