DVLA Auction - Reg 993 RS

Not a lot of change from £40k after vat and fees etc.

Who knows it may have been bought for Richard Smith who was born in September 1993? [8D]
 
I was on the live internet link. Started with an absentee bid £5200, already over my limit! Thought the bidding would stop around 10-12k, but just kept going. Actually quite interesting even though I wasn't involved. Lots of bidders initially, eventually field thinned, got the impression price was not an issue to the eventual winner. Great plate, has someone got 964 RS, make a great pair!
 
That is a lot of money for that plate, as it's appeal is fairly limited. '911 RS' would obviously have a much broader market.

Still, at least it's a proper, legal, generic plate, unlike some of those optimistically priced ones that appear for sale on here, which require fairly imaginative and manipulative use of spacing, bent digits and screw heads to create an obscure Porsche related link [8|]

It appeals to my sense of humour and he puts it on a BMW or something :)
 
Last time I saw 911 RS for sale, many years ago they wanted 78k. However I prefer the more specific plate and would much rather have 993 RS or 964 RS on the appropriate car. DVLA also sold 911 RSL some years back, which was great value at the time compared to 911 RS and would also suit many RS variants.

Not so long ago you could buy a superb 964 RS actual car for that money........[8|]
 
The 993RS plate is now showing on 'MyCarCheck' to be on a Silver Porsche first registered 01/08/1995.

Interesting, it seems to be on a real RS, engine size shown as 3744 which is only a couple out! [8|]

The funny thing is, if I saw that 993 at a car show with the "993RS" plate, I would assume it was a show plate the owner had attached for display purposes to remove before driving home! [8D]

Check the tax disc

Couple of car dealers show 'private plates' on cars but actually using trade plates
 
And at todays DVLA auction '993 CS' has just sold for £3900 + vat & commissions; just ideal for that ClubSport! And a snip compared to RS
