hi all,
i posted a while back about my drivers door handle not working from the outside. the cab is in for its mot on fri, and i spoke to the tester and i was told that it is a fail if its not possible to open the door from the outside. i think its the mech inside that has broken, and i believe their is a repair kit available. can anyone give me the details and the part number from porsche? its an 89 s2 cabrio.

cheers for your help.

Al.

i haven't taken the door card off yet, but the handle inside opens the door, but not the outside handle. i presume, and i am guessing, that either this part has failed or has come off. other than that, it could be the handle itself.

T911UK is saying the part you specify is for the drivers side - passenger side is different.
There is a number of bits in the whole assembly that can fail, I would take the card off and have a look asap.

yes, its the drivers side. i haven't got time at the moment to dismantle the door to have a look but did have a quick peek tonight when i took the door vent out and with the window down. it looks like it is that part that has failed to me. can see the catch from the outside working but it is not connected to anything.

Not at home at the mo . But the bent peice of wire with the plastic clips threaded either end can come in clipped , mine was helped to stay on with a tie wrap, and can break - fairly common.
