Drive Shafts S2/Turbo

Not cheap Martin! Plus I'm wanting to keep the trans stock in the long term. So I have a plan. I have acquired an 87-88 turbo UY box for a good price. Same gear ratios as my box but no LSD, cooler (thank god!), or hardened 1st and 2nd gears. The box is low mileage so will do as a stop gap. Got some nice Royal Purple to fill it with, have acquired a semi-solid mount to replace my knackered one (thanks AcC8Braman!). Also got an ex Porsche mechanic lined up to swap it over on Tuesday, no way I'm wrestling with that at the side of the road! I will then send my AOR box off to someone I know who will assess the situation and do what is needed to sort it. This can be done at his leisure. Once the AOR is sorted, including new cooler solution, I will swap it back over and then most likely sell the UY box to recoup some costs! All good now, I hope!!

Hi Steve. Yes it did thanks, looks a lovely piece of kit! Also picked up the UY gearbox, which seems in remarkably good order, gear change linkage is in tip top condition which is a bonus. It seems leak free and spins freely so should do a job for me for the time being. I've no idea of the history of the box but it certainly looks low mileage. So fingers crossed! Getting it swapped over on Wednesday, can't wait to get it moving again!

Well i got the UY box fitted. Got it sold as seen, cheap, from a mate who didn't know history. The linkage is great, looks very low miles. However that turned out to be a red herring as the box is brutal. Drones at low revs and whines at high revs, worse than my AOR that was removed. Anyway, it forces my hand to get the AOR fixed sooner rather than later and the car is at least mobile plus the AOR was removed before it got further damaged which should hopefully help keep the rebuild cost down. Old cars eh?
