I have to say this is the type of look I like in a 944. Not too badly messed around with so as to ruin it as a classic car but different enough to say
' I might be a bit special' to the passer by. I dont think I wouod spend 7,000 on an S2 as I cant see it as a good investment ( plus I dont like guards Red) but I may well try to get somewhere close on the look and spec who knows.

Only 993 cups, and lowered, lowered far 2 much 4 road use. Oil sump will be about 50 mm from the floor

Hi MAS,

Nah..for that money I would buy Poprock's black Turbo

I probably didnt make it very clear :p but I would NOT buy the car. It's just that the sort of bit like a race car look that I like. Possibly a roll bar bar but not stripped out inside and devoid of trim, possibly black wheels and some sporty graphics if you see what I mean. I cant help thinking should i have bought the 968 engined 924 oooh I like the look of that but it was stripped out ands it put me off.

I havnt commented on Poprocks car because it isnt for me and why critisise a car thats had such effort in to its upkeep. ut since you mention it , to me the fish gill wings on a classic car ? are an absolute no no. It remains to be seen but I think those wings devalue what is obviously a very well sorted turbo. Fortunately I know my opinion re Poprocks car matters not and I still admire his having looked after a 944 so well [;)]

Same wheels as on my S2, 993 cups, I like the look, red car/black wheels is a great combo. Not sure I would want to be a running advert for RPM though, looks to be a great track day toy but as an everyday user? Perhaps not. Ride height would be easy fix as kw's are adjustable.

May seem a tad expensive but probably still cheaper than buying you own well sorted S2 and then adding kwv3, powerflex bushes, bucket seats, m030 brakes, etc.

The S2 makes a great track day car, easy to drive on the limit and such usable power through the corners, lighter than a 968 club sport as standard so a lightened one makes it even more attractive for the track. Depends on what you intend to do with it I suppose.

Perhaps this look?[;)]

Who was it lusting after the mint green 968 cab a month or 3 back - was it McNulters? It's in their showroom, and the cheeky monkeys are asking £12.5k for it! With the bill he's about to get for his 944, he's probably wishing he'd bought a 968[:D][:D]

More likely that he wished he'd never heard of RPM...:)

RPM - that's where the 968 register are having a GTG on October 20th. Looking at their stock list, there's a few nice toys to admire!

Yes Ed totally like the look EXCEPT the 'Clubsport' logo , I dont like anything that is purporting to be what it isnt like fake Turbo or Club Sport badges but thats just me.
I'd rather see just some sponsor type logos or whatever. Apart from one tiny bit (the Clubsport bit) I think thst looks very tasty indeed !

Lush seats , how comdfortable are they really ? , and of course my old favourite wheels.

Mas

Funny you said that as Daytona removed the CS sticker when they repaired that wing a few weeks back, like you I prefer without now, but sometimes you dont know until you try it out...

At LMC on 6-8th July.

I think from this angle you can see why these cars hold the track so well...

Re the Poles, very comfy for bucket seats, obviously less cushioning than stock but I can live with that, plus is backside feels more in contact with road, much more feedback and communication on grip, etc.

Since you live so close I'll let you come round for tea and biscuits and take me for a spin in it ( kind of me or what [:D] )

Ed, i like the CS script but without the wording (less is more) the pole positions Ed has are subperb.

Never! [:D]

I was surprised; when I saw it at RPM they were going to ask less than when it was up for sale in Penn. I think they are advertising high knowing that haggling will be involved, or that they've replaced the wood-effect trim, which would have made a difference. I know it's only a few £s to buy all the dash trims new, but it did look awful with the plastic wood. [:'(]

I can't see the track car as being anything other than incredible value at that price. You just couldn't build one for that, but that does get me back to my boring old point about modified 944s. People don't want to buy them as "someone else's project", they want to go through the project themselves. Half the "fun" seems to be the huge pain of paying for developing it yourself, then selling it on at a loss. I've never got it myself, but each to their own! [:)]

Regarding the logos, I'd suggest it might be that part of the original deal was a discount to run on track with the RPM decals, or that it was supported by them on track. I don't know, but that would be my guess.

I pointed out the RPM car a few weeks back - i think it's a good price for the spec (although 944man disagrees with me :) ) I know what I've spent so far, and my car doesn't have the m030 brakes, polybushing or the half cage.

Wheels are wrong on the RPM car - but that's a minor issue. Mine are better [:D] Lightweight 8J ET40 all round with 225/45/17's

Now they are finished off, I like my brake ducts as well [:D]

I don't have any interior pics - must clean it before i take some...I've got two black sparco seats, kept the belts, carpets & door cards but stripped the soundproofing & rear seat. It's certainly very livable with on the road, unlike some of my previous track cars that I would only drive to & from the circuit. I think that says something about the technology in the KW's.

I think the market for track S2's is quite small - they are perceived as not being powerful enough. For the same money you can get an extra 100hp in an e36. If you want a 944, Turbos have always been more popular as track cars. When the S2 loses some weight it also makes it a lovely car to drive fast cross country - sharper and neater than a turbo. I've only had mine out on a circuit once so far, but I think i prefer it to my (full weight) turbo.

Mas, your very welcome mate, promax have done a great job setting the car up, its a great little drivers car. I'm often in Herts where r u?

maybe so, but the widths are wrong for a 944, particularly a track car. 7 / 9 is going to be prone to understeer.

My 993 wheels have Bridgestone S02 225/50/16 on front and 245/45/16 on rear, standard 944 tyre sizes for S2 (m030), Turbo S/SE and 968, yes the 225's are slightly wide for the fronts but they fit fine and I have zero understeer.

Fitting 205 front and 255's rear might be a little different however...
