Dizzy cap and rotor condidtion

After a frustrating few minutes trying to get the dizzy cap off (If it wasn't for clarks-garage I would never have got the thing off!) I was finally able to check the condidtion of these vital parts. To me they look like they need to be replaced pretty soon.

Does anyone know of a well priced supplier for these parts?

I ended up taking a hammer to mine when trying to replace it as it wasn't willing to relinquish its grip on the car [:)] . You can get Beru dizzy caps and rotor arms for less than £30 delivered for the pair from eurocar parts at the moment with their 20% off offer . Fitted to my car with no issues .

As Stevie says - you will notice the difference!!!

(once you've mastered the art of putting the dizzy back on!)

Top trick for when you come to put the dizzy cap back on:

1. Make sure the 'notch' on the cap lines up with the lump on the end of the camshaft housing, that way it will sit securely and stay put.

2. Make sure you mark up the spark plug leads correctly and install them in the correct firing sequence.

I only know about both these points as despite removing, stripping down and then refitting the engine, I managed to get both of these 'basic' jobs wrong !

Get the correct size screwdriver to fit thelocators then bend it 90 degrees, that's how Porsche do it.

+1 for the Beru cap Simon. You can pick them up cheap as chips and I think that was OE spec. Keep the underseal gun as long as you want mate. I'm not planning on using it at the moment. Will let you know if I need it.

Too true mate. I find a really, really, really long screwdriver does the trick but even then it's a PITA []

Simon I think we need to get your car down to Elliot's place some time and try and blag some ramp time off of him. I am sure he would be happy to help us give it a good going over. I am not trying to worry you but being an engineer yourself mate you know how dangerous it can be when people think they have a little (or in this case possibly none at all) knowledge. I would be more than happy to spend a few hours looking her over with you.

Lol, I feel like I've missed a massive chunk of this conversation!

Thanks for the great advice guys. The Beru stuff at euro looks like a great deal. I can get 25% off with one of my other car club memberships too.

Thanks for letting me keep hold of the underseal gun, Rob.

Oh, and the trip to Elliots sounds like fun. I might be able to tap him up for a rear wiper motor too!

Thanks James. Unfortunately I've already agreed a price with a guy on the 924 forum for the wiper bits. Thanks to the car's previous 'weight loss' program it was missing all of the rear wiper parts!

You have given me a thought though. It's probably worth me putting together a list of the bits I'm looking for a and sticking them up in the wanted section.

I'll be buying a Beru cap and rotor arm soon, but just for a laugh I rang OPC Leicester. I was quoted about £70 for the cap and roughly £85 for the arm! [&:]
