disconnecting door wiring advice

Hi all, quick question. Removing door from my car. Where is best to disconnect the wiring harness from the door. Can it be disconnected as one up above accelerator pedal (weird harness block) or is it best to remove door card and thread all the individual cables out through aperature on door beside the hinges. Anybody done this, any advice really welcome, thanks

I started to do it the other week when helping my brother start our strip down proper. IMHO best to unplug up under the dash and pull the cable out with the door. If you strip the door card off, as I did, you will be confronted with some seriously chunky cable. We didn't want to mess with it to much as since we are doing a complete strip down for racing it was easier to feed the cable out of the A pillar after unplugging then door away. It was a contributing factor towards my decision to go to manual winder on the drivers side so we can ditch all that cabling. Be aware though that the doors on the latter cars are seriously heavy, haven't weighed one yet but my brother reckoned on circa 30 Kg each.

Agreed, it's definately easiest to unplug the two connectors under the dash, quite a neat and quick solution thankfully. I think I'd also wrap a little insulating tape around each connector to reduce the chance of scratching paint as you pull it through the door shut.

I replaced a door recently and would say definately unplug under the dash top right side as it is much easier.

cheers all, very much appreciated. Will be updating how my sills etc are going over weekend, aint getting much of a chance, family and work etc always seem to get in the way, lol
