Difficulty in getting key into barrel

Not sure if anyone else had had this issue. I have an 2002 Boxster 2.7. A local garage I use for basic servicing recommended a local locksmith ( I live in Stafford in the Midlands). The locksmith is reluctant to get involved due to age and recommended OPC’s in case difficult to resolve. Waiting for OPC to come back to me but thought maybe someone else has had a similar problem. I am sure a locksmith could sort as the key does go in eventually but I am worried at sometime it will not!

Any help appreciated.

I used to work in the house door lock industry, and with corroded lock we used to tease into the lock mechanism (surprisingly small parts) a good liberal dose of Lithium grease. You can get it from Halfords.
It is quite searching and water repelling too but allows the tumblers inside the lock to be freed and remain so.

I guess your locks are corroded etc due to rarely being used.

Hope this will help.
