Decent bodyshop in the area

I'm sure i've seen a post on this recently and some of you mentioned someone in Leicester. I've had a bit of a shunt today when an Audi A3 tried to occupy the same space I was in at the time. The result is a woeful looking bumper and rear panel. I am going to take my car into Zentrums to get a quote from the bodyshop they use (if they are as good as Zentrum then I can be assured of a good job). Has anyone had any experience of them or can they recommend another shop in the area?

I suspect the repair costs are going to be uncomfortably close to the vaule of the car so I suspect the insurance company will want to write off but i'll fight it as best I can. It wasn't a high speed shunt so hopefully the damage is just cosmetic.

also found this one who Phil Mansfield recommended..

There is a backstreet bodyshop on Lansdowne Road near Grace Road in Leicester that does most of the sub contract work for Leicester Audi called Kensington Automotive. They are absolutely spot on!! I used them to have my rust spots done and all the Guards Red bodywork cutting back on my 944 S2 Cab, so I can highly recommend them. Anyone that was at the late summer Region 8 meetings in 2003 will tell you how good it looked.

Their phone number is 0116 283 7258 and ask for Eddie.

Regards

Phil

I've used Kensington for my 964 and he did a spot on job. I had a small dent on the nsf and some rust on the osf rear done. Charged, from memory, £300 including a machine polish all over.

He has now moved to just off Forest Road on Prestwold Street, tel 01162518689 speak to Eddie.

Apparenty Zentrum use exactly the same body shop as Nottingham OPC. Looks like Mike is using his old contacts.

heres the earlier thread about this http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=157151

Yes it was me originally asking the question but I never got round to having the work done. Just this week bought a second car to enable the Porsche to be promoted to weekend car. Now plan to mint the Porsche up with the front end respray and other bits. Trouble is, spent all the money on the other car.

Worse still, it all backfired yesterday when I took the rear wheels off for a good clean and my trolley jack collapsed. Badly crazed the paintwork on the aero skirts (not to mention any damage caused by the sizzor jack on the floor). Bad day :(

Neil, sorry to hear about your Jack escapades. Just goes to show how important it is to use axel stands if you are planning to go under the car, even if for a short time. I've often just stuck my head under to look at something briefly without axel stands - I certainly wont be doing that again!!

I'll let you know how I get on at Zentrum.

I said to same to my little apprentice (10yr old son). Just as an update, I took it back to the supplier (whom I happen to work for - we just brand them). Manufacturer is inspecting it and considering paying for repairs. Whats the betting he says either (a) theres nothing wrong with it or (b) i was misusing it!!

Well she's back after a month in the body shop and I must say the guys have done themselves proud. I can heartedly recommend taking your car to Zentrum for any bodywork you may need - even Mike was chuffed with the results. It feels like a new car and so much more alive than the C-Class Merc i've been wafting around in for the past month.

just had to take my Cayenne along to Selbys in Notts (official Porsche Bodyshop) and was very impressed by their friendlyness and didn't think their quote was too over the top either.
