Dashcam in your 924?

I've just bought a dashcam and was interested if other 924 owners have installed one, if so are there any tips you would like to share.
For instance are you using the standard power socket lead?

To add to my thread, was reading from Rennlist about a US 993 owner who quite rightly pointed out that my 924 comes with a cigar lighter on the centre console and not a power outlet - the difference being that a modern GPS, phone charger or indeed dashcam plug-in fits more loosely than a power outlet.

http://rennlist.com/forum...-accessory-outlet.html

It mentions Plug socket: 955 652 107 00 and Clamping ring with lid: 997 652 103 00 I'm wondering if these parts will be available and if they can be fitted to the 924?

Any probs and you can wire in a new power outlet
and mount it anywhere prob even in the old socket hole ?

That loose fit has been a problem using my Tom Tom sat-nav which needed the plug jamming with a broken matchstick. Then I realised I had an adjustable extension adaptor which fits more tightly into the cig socket-places the adaptor socket higher up the dash possibly halfway up the speaker grill so that a very short lead can connect to the Tom Tom.I now use a twin USB power adaptor into that then both the Tom Tom lead & an Iphone charging lead which is shorter than the Apple one,& has a helical wound section so I don't get wire hanging everywhere.
This works in both our 924's-& I also use just the twin USB adaptor in the same way in the daily BMW despite it having built in Sat Nav,as my trusty Tom Tom gives instant GPS speed information -a little assistance despite the E61 speed being slightly more accurate than it's E 39 predesessor
