I take it this is the subject matter of the title?

Is this a serviceable part then? If so how do you remove it? I don't see any way of unscrewing it.
 
Hmmm, interesting question Rob, I suspect it may be a drift fit and not screwed, since my head is in pieces I'll try to take a look tomorrow, can't get at it till then I'm afraid.

Lol we seem to be at the same juncture Pete. Is yours also on the missus' best table in the kitchen though?
 
I think the hat must be drilled and tapped so it can be pulled and release the ball + spring below.
If removed, a new hat must be purchased.
 
Hahaha.... No Rob it's safely locked up in the workshop, mind you in the past I've had an engine block and motorbike in the front room.
I wish I was at the same stage as you Rob, I have a lot of stuff to get from the US and still need to find the spare cash to do it, house is taking preference just now..:(

Little does she know though that said same flat as a pancake marble table will have six sheets of sandpaper glued to it tomorrow for some DIY head refinishing [:)]
