cut throat sales

I was up at one of our two OPC dealers yesterday, I wont say which one,... but it was the one which uses sterling !
I was there by appointment to view and test drive a Cayenne S, got up at 5.30am to get there for my test drive.
Now considering that I had negociated the price over the phone and had left the sales man know that I was bringing £1000 with me as a deposit and subject to the car being what he said it was , i would most likely buy.

I arrived up , had breakfast, met our man as arranged , went out for a test drive, haggled, .... haggled some more as you do.......... pushed the poor chap as far as I thought I could. He then had to go off to his boss to see was there any further movement, only to return... with boss in tow to inform me that another sales collegue had just taken a deposit on the car !!! ( by phone ) , while we were out on the test drive. , brillint.
I lost the car. and the poor sales guy lost his commision.... ok I was pis*ed off, but yer man was like a bas**rd !

What I suspect happened was the other salesperson called the other punter and said that the car was possibly about to go., The chap I was dealing with did say that someone else was looking at it.... but dont they all !
besides, there I was with 1000 in my ass pocked.

Cut throat sales at its very best.
A case of a salesperson putting their personal gain before the marques / OPC image.
It was quite amusing to see actually,, well you got to have a sence of humour

gee mate, sad to hear you had to put up with this. Sounds like bad manners to me. I would have thought the sales manager would have told them to hang off with other possible purchasers until you have finished negotiations. No wonder most of us end up paying full price for these cars[:(]
