Cup Design 93 wheels - going cheap on the bay

Had these in my watch list and at the moment could go for a sensible price, thought I'd mention it in case anyone was interested - I have no affiliation with the seller.

Thought about them for my 944, but have other priorities at the mo. Rears would need spacing.

Hopefully that doesn't break any rules?

Cheap for VWd wheels, but their proper name is 993 Winter Cup and theyre not particularly sought after. Of course, with the VW fanbois we would still be able to buy Design 90s for £125 a set...

My mistake, I thought they were called Cup Design 93.

I imagine being 16's makes them a bit less desirable, but still a good price for refurbed genuine wheels - I have seen other sets of these wheels selling for double what these ones are going for.

I was considering them, but then I saw a picture of a 944 on some 16" Cup 1's (iirc), and I feel that with that chunky 5 spoke design, they need to be 17's really. My choice would be Cup 2's, but I'm still on the fence of going back to some period 16's, D90's or late offset 16" tele's.

You're right though, the dub tax has pushed the price of D90's right up!

I have a set of refurbed Winter Cups in my garage, but they dont look great of 944s and they need spacers too. I think that the 993 carried them off by virtue of its been a pretty car, so even ugly wheels looked alright on it...

Getting tyres to suit the 9" rears is getting difficult and expensive too, which is the proncipal reason that my Turbo is still running on 17" wheels.

...and one of the reasons that my Turbo wheels are hanging on the garage wall and I have a set of S2 wheels on the car.
