Hi folks, bought my s2 a few weeks ago off one of my best mates and fellow forum member. Came with 16in cup1 wheels in good condition, odd mark here and there. I prefer D90's. When I get round to it in new year gonna look to either sell mine and buy d90s or see if anyone fancies a swap. Just after some opinions please. Obviously my mates given me his which I value immensley (sure he'll read this!) but just wondering what are thoughts re: cash. like for like should i be content to do a straight swap for d90s, or expect to pay a bit, or receive a bit?
cheers for reading.

I like the right wheels on the right year, teledials look ace on an early 944,forged CS on an 88/89,D90 on 90 onwards.
I am not an originality freek but just think they look good with the right wheels.

I'm guessing this depends on the condition on the wheels more than anything?

Personally I prefer the Cup1s to D90s, but price depends on condition and who wants them 16" might be a bit awkward to get rid of most people run 17" Cup1s but you could find a 968 owner who wants to go original. when you have them off next chck if they are marked with a Porsche code number or whether they are Speedline copies nothing wrong with the copies but value for originality might be more. Mine are coloured to match the car in Titan Grey and in my opinion look far nicer yet still period than the D90s, unless you can get a set of the lighteight Turbo wheels which are similar to D90s but look cool.

Condition being equal I would say the cup1's command a higher price as they are rarer and more desirable (by some).

Generally, yes. But do bear in mind the comment about Porsche wheels being more desirable than repro ones, and it all being down to preference. In 16 inch size, I greatly prefer the D90's to the Cup 1's.

16inch Cup 1's are generally viewed as being much less desirable than 17inch Cup 1's.

I think you're right - I sold 2 sets of 16" cup 1's this year & got reasonable prices for them. I would expect a small premium of £50-100 over D90's. I quite like 16" cup 1's on a 944 & they are nice & light.

I'm tempted to say that we (being human) want what we do not have. I have D90s so yearn for Cup 1s. Having said that - I wouldn't pay much of a premium for 16" - If I'm going to swap I'd go for 17" (just for the wider selection of performance rubber). For a small premium it would be tempting if they were 7.5 and 9 (my D90s are 7 and 8 S2 stockers).

cheers for your views. They are genuine porsche wheels. You've put my mind at rest that I shouldn't be having to add some cash to a like for like swap for D90s, as had been suggested ! Maybe I'll get round to trying to do a swap next year. If not I'll just buy some d90s and see what I can get for mine.
cheers.
