Crested wheel centre caps - are these genuine?

Guest

I bought some of these from a used and new porsche parts company as 'genuine' but I am not sure.

do the oem ones say 'made in italy' on the rear?

thanks

Cant remember about any marks on the back, but mine came in gen Porsche labelled/barcoded boxes, thus one would presume they were the real deal.

thanks John,

These did not come in barcoded Porsche boxes but were sold as genuine on the ad.

I have spoken with the company who said they are genuine, I then spoke with Porsche who said that the originals have 'Germany' on them.

I called the company in qustion back who now says that they are from the same manufacturer as Porsche use!?

I do not believe a supplier of Porsche would upset porsche by selling copies to other people?

Am I being silly?

Anyway I think I will send them back.

any views?

The box should look like this:-

The part itself should have 'Germany' Written on the back, along with the part number (as per the part number on the front of the box).

Thanks Rodney,

Nothing like that at all.

I am more anoyed at the tone in which this has been handled on the phone.

The kit will go back to them in the post tomorrow and hopefully I will get refunded straight away.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that some of the Techquipment items WERE made in Italy.

I think this includes the centre caps, so they may have been geniune Techquipment after all.

I have since been advised they are definitely not real as they have a part number starting 7 instead og 996 or 993.

they also came in some very basic packaging unlike the Porsche boxes with Porsche written all over them and with part numbers/bar codes on the pakaging.

I am not convinced.

It may be that you have been sold OEM parts.

This means they are parts from the Original Equipment Manufacturer. These parts should be cheaper.

To be honest I nearly always only buy Genuine parts from the main stealer. I mean dealer hehe.

Why bother with a possibly inferior product.

Who was the seller?
