couple of questions re my 996 Turbo

Picked my baby last week and absolutely love it.

a couple of things Im goping someone can help with?

I managed to set the wing morror so if I put the car in reverse in points downwards but it only works sometimes?? is this somrthing I am doing wrong?

also

Sometimes when cold if pootling along very slow in 1st I then accelerate gently I get the slightest of hesitation. Its so small but I am wondering if its the start of something else?! am I being a paranoid new owner?

I have exactly the same with mine... I set the mirror per the instruction (having the car in reverse gear when setting the key and memory seat), but can't get the mirror it to dip when I reverse.....and I get the slight hesitation too when cold. I have put that down to a slightly stiff accelerator pedal and haven't worried about it since. Bit unusual for me, given I am normally a car hypochondiac!

Are you swapping between 2 sets of keys when you use the car? One set might be programmed with the reverse dip feature, the other might not.

I seem to recall it was something to do with the switch for which mirror you wanted to adjust so that you could switch off the tilting mirror if not required, if the switch was activated for adjusting the n/s mirror then it would dip, if the switch was activated for the offside mirror then it wouldn't!

Also, the slight hesitation, is it around 3000 rpm, if so it might have something to do with the variocam and as far as I know is normal, according to OPCs!

I recall differently: on the 996 which I ran the switch does not control whether the mirror dips AS LONG AS you have saved the preference in the key memory. I also recall that the key did on a number of occasions forget this preference (but not the seat position) but I these occasions were rare rather than sometimes.

On the 997 the switch does control whether the mirror dips or not and is not affected by key memory settings (despite what it says in the manual).

My OPC have indicated that Porsche are constantly changing the software such that what the manual says and what is possible depends very much on the date of manufacture as well as the model.
