Correct temperature

Hi Guys,

Where should the temperature gauge be on the dial? Mine is reaching the first white mark, but doesn't get any further to horizontal.

Is this correct or is it running a bit cold?

Thanks

Oliver

So will cleaning the temperature sender below the inlet manifold. Mine used to read below the first white marker but recently I has it out and cleaned the scale off it with some auto sol and now it reads just under half way.

ORIGINAL: 944 man
A new thermostat will see it higher

Hmmm I have seen this only once, that was when replacing the original Wahler thermostat with one from Laso, which does not open quite as much. as I observed by testing both in boiling water. Needless to say I went back to the Wahler in a whisper.

I would suggest not using the Laso thermostat at all, but the standard Wahler with the 83°C stamp.

Are all the other gauges where they should be? I have had times with a couple of 944s, where everything seems to read low - low temperature, a tankful of fuel doesn't take the fuel gauge to the top, the volt meter looks a little droopy, oil pressure is maybe 0.25 Bar lower... I blame the voltage regulator on the dash, but have never bothered to do anything about it - always more important jobs!
