Condensation problem.

Hi all,
Well, iv'e been getting the Turbo ready for it's thrash down to JMG on Saturday morning, checking fluid levels, making sure it still starts,(new Bosche battery),you know the sort of things. Anyway, i was absolutely astonished at the amount of condensation inside on the front and rear windscreens []. I mean it was saturated! Which, poses the question i must now ask, is this normal? Or, is it not condensation and, i have a leak! All the seats and carpets are dry. Is condensation a known problem on these cars or, am i just being stupid?!?!

My experience of the '44 is that it is no worse (or better) than any other hatchback in terms of condensation.

I'd see how things go on before you start tearing the carpets up looking for leaks, though. If you haven't used the car for a while and it was last used when the air was warmer and more humid the change to the current colder weather might well give you a one-off build up in condensation.

Pete I use those small portable dehumidifier from pound land, I leave one in the boot and rest one on the arm rest, pulls loads of water out.

My first turbo suffered from really bad condensation just as described. If I recall correctly new door and rear hatch seals made a huge improvement, might be worth checking what sort of condition yours are in ?

Shouldn't be that damp.Look under carpets they are rubberised so carpet actually doesn't show wet ontop if water underneath.Check rear boot wheel arch areas , spare wheel area , roof lining areas , inside doors - if drain holes are blocked and door window scraper seals are poor will hold water in door.

Its that time of year

Almost 100% humidity and a temp difference of 1 degree causes condensation on uninsulated surfaces.

I bet it doesnt happen often.

Air circulation equalises temps and reduces it as does insulation

Hi all, thank you very much for all your interesting input guys. Jon Mitchell has it now and he is going to look into it for me while he's got it there. Some very interesting point's raised indeed! James, what a great idea about the mini de- humidifiers! Gonna call into pound land this week if i get a moment [:D]
