cluth gone!

Hey all

My clutch has started to slip a bit so will soon need replacing thinking of doing it myself I have a small amount of exsperience having replaced clutch's before but unfortunantly it was in a morris minor so I figure it will be a bit differenthing this time! can anyone tell me is it somthing i should attempt or one best left to the professionals??.

Any comments or advice welcomed

As nobody has replied, I will at least point out the obvious. You will need to drop the engine and gearbox to replace the clutch. You might like to think of buying the Bentley manual and even 101 Projects. Also, if you are not already familiar with the Pelican Parts BBS then you should take a look. If you get really stuck, this will be the best source of online help. Lots of people on Pelican have done engine drops and a few have done clutch replacements.

Sorry, I can't be of any further help. Minor stuff, I am quite happy with, but I must confess to preferring to pay the experts when it comes to the seriously oily bits. Good luck if you decide to tackle it yourself. Perhaps you can take digi pics and post them here as a record of how to do it?

Thanx for your help I have got the 101 projects coming for xmas if I have been good! and I have downloaded the pelican Tech articals regarding the engine drop and clutch replacement it looks resonably straight forward was just after any one who has done one to tell if there's things that I should be wary of or make it a nightmare!!

Ps tried to post on pelican but for some reason I could not log on and and not had time to find out why.
 
Tip...whilst you are at it, you may like to consider changing the Clutch Cover for the 964RS version. This saves over 12lbs from the rotational weight. One of the CS owners had it done, and the engine definately picked up much faster from a step input (i.e flooring the throttle)

I don't know about you guy's but I always feel that the 3.2 engine feels "lazy" at low speeds - even in neutral....

Any chance of a part no. and cost for the RS cover|? My clutch is on the way out too and any mods are always welcome.
