clutch hydraulic problem

Hi, Just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem. I've definitely got a leak from the clutch slave cylinder ( leak out of bottom of bell housing) but also the pedal sinks to the floor overnight sometimes. Just wondering if I need a new master cylinder as well? How would I check if its not actually leaking?
 
One method of checking the master cylinder would be to disconnect the hose to the slave and screw a bolt plug into the end (make sure it's the same thread) then press pedal it will be spongy but provided there is fluid in the system it will show if the master cylinder is leaking (pedal will go to floor and stay there).
Alternatively check for lost fluid around the master cylinder and pedal box - if it's dry then it's probably ok
 
What year of manufacture is your car?
Not a very common issue as I have never come across anyone's slave cylinder leaking before, but doesn't mean that it's not.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I could just change the slave and see how it goes. Will check the master whilst doing that, and order one if necessary. It's an '87. I must admit I miss the simplicity of the '76 Carrera 3.0 I had before, cable operated clutch,no brake servo etc. but at least everything works on this one!
