Clicking sound behind steering wheel

Hello I know I've asked before but this is driving me mad. Did 300 miles in her this weekend and it didn't miss a beat. Apart from ths clicking and the heater fan was going from fast to slow or off? Any ideas..greg

The heater fan is an easy fix. The resistor pack has probably given up and is a common problem.

Have a look at this: http://www.944time.com/porsche/944-fan-speed-resistor.php

The pack is located in the heating system input in the scuttle near the fuse box. Take the resistor pack out and soak it in white wine vinegar over night. Completely sorted it for me!

The clicking could be related and may be the relay. Pop the fuse box lid and see if a relay is clicking as it means you have a ground somewhere on that circuit. Can't think of anything that it could be directly behind the steering wheel but because the fuses are in the scuttle it might sound like it is.

Hope that helps.

On my S2 it was down to the heater valve working overtime. It was compensating for a seized solenoid on the heater flap.

I may be wrong but im not sure the OP was meaning that there was a link between the heater and the clicking.

My 944 had a clicking behind the wheel but it was intermittent. Its seems to have stopped since I removed the wheel and the indicator assembly and reinstalled them.

The clicking always felt/sounded like the wheel was straining somehow when turning at slow speeds.

If one of the the interior light contact is rusty and has a poor contact it causes very rapid clicking noise from under the dash. The switches are located on the door jamb. Unscrew it and pull it out, mind you don't let the cables fall off and into the interior of the wing. Then remove the cables and clean up the contact spades.

Thanks for all this I will work my way through all suggestions. Might beg some help on some of the suggestion. Thanks Greg.
