Just saw the last 15 minutes of Classic Car Rescue on Channel 5.
All I know was it was described as model year 1977
They gave it a bare metal respray, colour orange (not Porsche specific), added a whale tail, refurbished the wheels; had a none standard front bumper and refurbished interior (seats, headlining, not sure about carpets).
Dillan Miles (a well know evaluation expert apparently!!) who carried out the evaluation. The car was purchased for 6k and the refub' cost 7k. The car was then valued at 22k. [&:]
Would be interested to know whether any of you folks owning early 911s saw it?
Personally I would be very surprised if any Porsche enthusiast would pay 22k for it.
From the little I saw I wouldn't even pay them back what they payed out.

Pretty much what I felt watching it, the end result looked much better than I expected from them but was a bit of a dogs dinner. Should have either gone for period authenticity or not bother with the interior and gone for a track special. Not that I know much of anything about old 911s but I would love a track special in that colour or yellow or green. £22K though, yeah right.

I thought they paid £6900--3 weeks --3 men--7.5hrs /day @ £35/hr =£11,812.5 = £18,712.5

Paint,thinners sundries =£650 say = £19,362.5--Discs,pads ,shocks =£760--- = £20,882.5

Interior etc possibly £1200 ( I missed this part) --= £22,082.50.

So where's the profit other than maybe a bit in the labour rate.

And as posts above plus loads of filler.

Full photo-resoration ?

Not my idea of a satisfactory outcome ....

But the car is a prize, so they would want a high price on it.

I bought a really lovely original numbers, original panel and fully repainted '74 2.7 911 for £25k.

And my bodywork guy who did the bodywork for the dealer concerned, vouched for it being the best shell he had seen in a very very long time ....

The car is an absolute shed. Worth the sum of b*gger all so no idea out of which a*se he plucked the valuation.

I pity the poor sod who wins it.

Shows like this give restoration a bad name. At least some of the other shows made some effort to restore the car. I don't understand why they bothered. And who is that presenter from London.... I know its for TV effect but he had me in fits.... I wonder if Autofarm know how bad it was going to be when they agreed to have their name associated with it?

A guy in our North Wales club Region 6, has a beautifully restored 1969 911 T Coupe, one of the first series B cars in absolute pristine condition. Make these loons look like back street BOB.

Ah and while we are on the topic of restoration; a guy (TV personality) who is truly passionate about cars and restores to an extremely high standard is Mark Evans a true Master of engineering craftsmanship. I love his pedantic eye for detail and sheer exuberant enthusiasm. His programmes are a real joy to watch.

Apart from some wonderful historic shots, that programme actually made me feel physically sick......

I think they should have turned it into a track hack and foregone the interior fit. Would have liked to have been present at the MOT......

Settle down folks it 's only a TV show ..not meant to be a real life documentary .

Have to agree it is a crap show and we will all watch it ..well most will and believe every word of it .
The sponsors A Flux may have wished to view a pilot before committing to this show.
Wish i could do all that restoration for £8k .. Will we be watching the next show you bet we will [] []

Must get this guy round to value mine!!! An original LHD car converted to RHD,fitted non standard 3.2 engine, no history and worth 22K. He must value mine at at least £500K
