Choke problem?

Can anyone help with cleaning and/or adjusting the choke on a 1984 2.5 litre. Has anyone done this job before? Where exactly is the choke located on the carburetor? Links or pictures would be great.

Thanks.

Thanks for clearing that up. Someone I knew suggested this as a problem.

Having trouble starting cold. Engine starts fine but then runs 'groggy' when idling and vibrates quite a lot until it has warmed up to running temperature.

Edd is correct in saying that there is no choke on 944's as a choke is a carburettor thingummie. However there will be a warm-up system, which does the same job albeit by a different means, and it sounds like this is at fault.

I'm not familiar with the design of the Motronic system but faults in such systems are often temperature sensors not returning the correct value to the injector control system (either because the sensor is duff or the wiring has broken), or blocked injectors or pipework. Early Bosch stuff tended to be very simple so there wasn't much to go wrong.

If you are practical then you can do worse than work through the system methodically, probably with a garage manual or the relevant pages from Clark's alongside you. If not then it may be a case of taking it into a garage and coughing up.

Oli.
