Chipped door handle cover

Hi All,

I've got a couple of chips on the top of the door handle on the drivers door. Because of this I can see the paint beginning to lift slightly. I've found the door handle part on Design911, but the door handle itself is fine. Does anyone know the best remedial action for this? Is it a case of just getting the paintwork repaired on the door handle?

Any advice greatly appreciated - whilst it's not a big thing, I know it will get irksome if I start to see more paint chipping off [8|]

You might as well just get the paintwork repaired. New handles only come in primer, so you would have to get it painted anyway.

Update - local ChipsAway franchise did it on my drive, colour matched to perfection. Cost was £95 plus VAT, took about 90 mins all in. Got to be careful putting pressure on the lacquer for the first 4-7 days but other than that all good.

Do you wear a ring on the hand you use on the handle? I've sorted scrapes on my neighbour's X5 from his wife's, and had to have the door handles on my 968 repainted as a result of previous owner's finger rings! I'm also very careful to only use my right hand on the door handles - my only ring is on my left (although as a plain gold band I think it should be through my nose!![:D][:D])

Hi Chris,

Yes, I wear a ring, but the chips were on top of the handle (see pic), I've seen scratches on my wife's Audi underneath the door handle where she opens the door but this was on top - not entirely sure how it initially happened but it got worse over time, presumably through repeated contact or something getting stuck? Odd. Anyway, all resolved now.
