check strap

one of my check strap bolts has become loose i suspect the captive nut is no longer captive
the question is when i have removed the old bolt how do i secure that part of tbe check plate ?

I recently sorted my check strap, same problem as your.

I used a rivnut, bought from eBay. Put this in eBays search bar and you'll see the type that I bought "10 Rivet nuts Rivnuts Nutserts M6 Stainless Steel".

I used a home made rivut tool, search the internet, there''s plenty of well illustrated examples of how to make such a tool.

I had to drill the old bolt out as the captive nut on the back had broke away from the body and so prevented me from screwing it out. I also replaced the bolts with standard allen bolts, as the originals are Torx I think, and have found Torx too easy to strip if the drivers lips. No such concerns with allen keys
