Check strap help

Hi all,

I'm after some more help please.

My drivers door check strap has become loose, so i tried to tighten the bolts, but they just spin!! i'm guessing there is a plate on the inside of the front wing which has snapped? does anyone know how to remove the check strap?

or how to access the back of the bolts in the wing? or can i get to it via the drivers footwell?

thanks in advance, Justin

Hi Justin
Access is possible through thefootwell, fiddly but possible.
But I think the check strap are captive, welded ones.
To get access remove the bottom trim strip from the door opening then the side edging strip then the side carpet and finally the hatch release switch and mount.
You should then be able to at least feel what's going on there.
There are lots of wires to be careful of!

thanks for that [:)]

i shall have a look and see what's gone wrong (the check strap still works, it's just that the end attached to the actual door frame as become loose, i suspect something has broken[:(])

thanks again, Justin
