Charging /Battery warning

Hi does anyone have experience similar to below:
The battery light came on and stayed on this morning. I haven't used the car for 3 weeks due to a holiday etc, this is a new (6months) old battery and I had the car connected to a trickle charger. Any electricians out there? Can I fry my alternator with a trickle charger. I guess I could have boiled the battery? Any advice.

Sounds like the alternator is u.s. I would not think a trickel charger would cause the problem. Will the car start/ if so check the charge rate. should be about 13.8/ 14.2 alternator is not to bad to change, make sure you fit the drive belt the correct way round and fit new if required.Berny.
 
Had a similar problem on my Boxster 3.2 S i'm afraid it sonds like the altenator is not charging. Had a quote from OPC for £800 but i found a local chap also a 911 owner who fitted a new one for £280. That was over a year ago and it's been fine ever since.
