Channel Tunnel with a trailer ?

Whats it like. How easy is getting Off / On? Do you use the lorry lanes? Any specific restrictions? Used ferry to pick car Up , wondering what the tunnel is like for comparison?

I would think they'd put you through with the high vehicles (coaches, camper vans etc) into one of the single tier carriages rather than the 2 tier ones for cars.

Most times we take our camper an over the carriage has cars with trailers in as well. As above single height carrage very easy to get on and off

Taken my Caterham in a trailer a few times for European races, it's a doddle, you go in with the cars, just not on the double deck bits, taller cars don't go on those either though. I've for a Brian james hard covered trailer and you just drive in.

It's tight but just make sure you swing wide and are straight on the open loading bit -same on way out. And also make sure you can get the full length into carriage -attendant misjudged it once and I had to reverse back into the previous carriage -thanks!!

Or alternatively go on the boat!! No issues there!

You're the first to point that out ! Something that I had thought might be possible ! It must be difficult to A: judge when to turn into the carriage and B: get it straight afterwards. In my so far limited experience, straightening up requires a little distance to complete. Likewise getting off the other end ?
It's not that easy with a car in the car carriage. Don't believe me ! Take a look at the tyre marks that are along the edges !
I must admit my ferry crossings were painless. Apart from almost being directed up the second deck ramp with the cars! Problem is, if you don't know any better you just go where directed. trusting the marshal's to send you to the right place. That very nearly ended in tears ! Fortunately I challenged him and he realized his mistake ! I still had to back up a bit though !
