Changing colour of vent covers

My Spyder has the lovely combination of red / black trim , except for the front and side vents that are silver.
I checked to see if black ones are available but they are not , hence why it was supplied with silver ( titanium).
The price of these are well over a hundred each so not cheap to buy a set and get painted. Also my trusted painter advised not to as the paint wont last well. So i never had anything wrapped before but that looks the only choice now ? Anyone else been down this path ?
 
I always thought the side vents on my 987.2 looked poor in silver against the meteor grey, so I bought a replacement pair off e-bay and had them painted by my local detailer for £30.00 (I supplied the paint from Porsche Shop), including clear coat. I've been running with these now for about a year and they remain unmarked. The front vents were already body coloured and are unmarked.

I also have a 981 and have had the side vents painted too, because I preferred the gloss look. I've run this for 6 months and again no problems!
 
Good to hear its working well for you. Sadly for the Spyder there is not much chance of a used set turning up for sale so it looks like i will be having a go at wrapping with Avery gloss black. Been watching the how to vids and will practice on something first !
 
I'm sure replacements are difficult to find for the Spyder, but I only got the replacement in case either the painting failed miserably, which it didn't or when I come to sell the car, a purist insisted on the silver ones!
