Central Locking Again

Hi guys

Recap - central locking doesn't work. Doors both lock manually from inside and out. I got 2 actuators from Elliott and when cutting the drivers side wires off, the actuator moved. This told me it was working, the problem was before. the suggestion was that I needed a new relay.

I just got a relay from Elliot and replaced that, excitedly pressed the lock button, nothing. Could this be a button problem? Is there any easy way to test the locking?

Do you have an aftermarket alarm fitted, mine did and with it connected the lock button would lock but not unlock from the button, with the alarm now removed it works both ways. Im wondering could it be a wiring issue.

Also have you tried changing the central control locking unit attached to the steering shaft under the dash.

Yeah, that's the relay thing I just changed. The button gets power as the red light is on, just pressing it does nothing. Also I'd have assumed that the drivers door would also unlock the passengers, which it doesn't, but it might not anyway. I don't believe an alarm is fitted, in fact the Ferrarri garage electrician who did he cash in hand work earlier asked if I wanted a Porsche one fitted!

Having spent upwards of £60 on parts to get it working, it's pretty disheartening to see a growing pile of spares with zero progress. The fact the actuator locked when I cut the cables implies the wiring should be working, but I can't work out what isn't working!

Why are you cutting cables ?

The actuators plug in. Just the pull the plugs and check for current in both positions. If no current then trace back into the relay and test there if not the keep following down the wiring till you find current.

The replacements were 2nd hand with cut cables so I just soldered them in. The cables appeared pretty well attached to the actuators so I didn't think they unplugged, but will check again. Good soldering practice anyway!
