I've got an '07 3.4 Boxster S as a courtesy car at the moment. It's got 19" wheels and a few toys (PCM, sport chrono). No Bose or PASM. It is a Tiptronic model.
I've just completed a lengthy journey in it and can compare it to my '06 Cayman S. Obviously the interior is the same as a Cayman S. I'll summarise the pros and cons as I see them:
Pros
- Comfortable ride - a great deal softer than my CS. Soaks up bumbs better. Good for long journeys.
- Seats - softer than my Sports Seats so feel more comfortable but slightly less body-hugging.
- Tiptronic - good for motorways but also rubbish for driving the car properly.
- Open-top driving - not particularly useful in the downpours today!
Cons
- Visibility isn't as good as the CS. Especially rear visibility.
- Tiptronic - what a great way to eliminate driver involvement!
- Noise in the cabin - due to the soft-top, a bit more road noise leaks into the cabin.
- Doesn't feel as 'tight' or rigid as the CS.
My CS, particularly with the very loud Tubi exhaust feels much more 'hardcore' than the Boxter S. The Boxster S is a more comfortable car to drive every day.
