Cayman S 2006!

Would value your expertise folks please.
Spotted what looks to be an attractive early Cayman. Normally it takes a few years for niggles and problems to be designed out or rectified and even then not all are eradicated. I was wondering whether there are any potential gremlins to look out for if considering an early Cayman, particularly the 2006 S?

Paul, The Cayman shares most of its components with the 987 Boxster and therefore benefits from the significant amount of development work carried out on that vehicle. Apart from the well-publicised - but somewhat overplayed - RMS/IMS engine issues, rusting of the brake discs (the inner faces in particular), wear in the supension bushes and aircon condenser leaks are common faults and water pump failures are not unknown. Also, make sure that all the electrics are working correctly. As always, buy on condition and a reliable and full service history (PC or recognised Indy). A pre-purchase inspection would be advisable too, as a full diagnostic check could throw up some hidden problems. Good luck..! Jeff
