Hi guys,

Just picked up a new cayman R this afternoon.

Had a cayman 2.9 pdk before. Car feels (and sounds) great already.

Salesman at porsche told me not to rev the engine too much for too long in first 1000 miles - but I think he didnt know what he was talking about - he only started at the dealership in Jan 2012!

What did you do for the "running in" period? and for how many miles?

Will post pics when the rain has settled and the sun comes out!

 
Modern Porsche engines are NOT run in at the factory, they are merely pressure tested cold. I know this cos I asked the question on a factory visit. Therefore your engine is box fresh, so thrashing it from day 1 is not a good idea in my opinion. I'd suggest you take the salesman's advice, irrespective of how long he's worked there.
