Cat Studs

Good afternoon all 996'ers,

Can anyone give advise/share their experience with the studs on the cat to header. The nuts holding the cats and headers are almost non existent. They crumble when you touch them and I think it is where I have a leak (You hear a sought of ticky/flutter noise). Oh have recently replaced the mufflers with Dansk ones, so a leak isn't there.

Basically what I read is the studs have to be heated and knocked out. Is that true. Is there a simpler/easier way to change them to the M8 bolts/nuts.
