Car Insurance for new driver

This may be a silly question but is it possible to insure a 944 for a sensible price ( <£1500 ) for a new driver (17) once they have passed their test ?

I have read some notes that say the 944 is a classic car and cheap to insure but I'm not sure

I am in a good area ( cheshire ) so insurance is generally low ( eg My 17 daughter got insurance for £1000 for a 1.4 corsa )

Thanks

Peter

I would doubt it.. Maybe a 924 would be a little cheaper?

Most Classic policies exclude the under 25's I think

I'd be interested to know how you get on - I think the 924 would be a great first car

Probably not. I moved to the uk from Canada and my first years insurance for a 944 witha new uk licence was roughly 1800 gbp. Second year was down to just over 1k. Was told to expect a similar % drop this year. I'm in my forties and suspect the rate is coming down quicker than it would for a 17 year old.

Bear in mind that most of the classic policies are also based on you having a different main vehicle........ I would be a little worried about letting any 17 year old loose in a 944 - dread to think what I would have done with something like that at 17 !

As others have said, a 944 can be insured cheaply on a classic policy but there are a few snags. First, many "classic" policies are based on the insured vehicle being your "fun" car and you having something else as the daily drive. Second, many classic policies have age restrictions on the driver.

Insurance companies are many things but stupid isn't one of them. Most of the loopholes allowing younger drivers to get cheap insurance have been well and truly closed these days.

Try a smaller classic car like a Golf or a Mini

Classic insurance is available for 17 year olds
