Car cover advice - Today my 944 started to leak....

Hi,

We have owned our 944 for over a month and we love it. It lives on the drive in all weathers and its been totally dry until yesterday when it leaked....

I need to buy a car cover that is water proof and breaths so I can protect the car while I find out where this damn leak is coming from. Any advice.

I have checked all the usual places for water leaks but can find a visible fail point. The front scuttle is damaged and water may be coming in here and running through a failing grommet in the bulk head and dripping on to the pedals then running down the floor pan to the rear foot well. So I need some sort or cover while I try and find this damned leak before the water causes more problems. Thanks Jason

Make sure there aren't leaves clogging up the drain run off up on the scuttle. This is a common problem area on these cars, after a while you get used to checking this area every now and then but often owners don't know about this problem and several years worth of leaves builds up there and causes a water trap. It could be as easy as that, if it is billy bonus.

Hi Neil, Thanks for the info. I cleared out about ten years worth today. Some dry some wet. Hopefully it will be this easy but I have a feeling its not...

My car lives outside too...got a tailored/breathable cover from Specialised Car Covers three years ago and I'm still very happy with it. It's a good fit (so doesn't chafe much) and doesn't seem to sweat much. It wasn't the cheapest (c£200) but they do a discount at shows...ordered mine at the NEC show I think. Still cheaper than renting a garage.

my Cab is outside, I just bought one about 6 months ago, from from Airflow 0845 4582611, and to date its been very good all thru winter. Mike
