Getting it from Porscheshop [;)]

There are better firms to deal with and many will be cheaper too. Personally, Id sooner pay whatever the dealer asked, than buy a belt from Porschop.

Did I read very recently that an indie refused to fit a belt that someone had bought from PS, due to its low quality?

Really? not heard that one, sounds unlikely unless it was damaged.
FWIW I used Euro car parts the last couple of times I did the belts and they came in a Continental box with a little mileage sticker. IIRC The balance belt is the expensive one (about £40) and double that from Porsche.

It was very recently James, but Im not sure where or Id link to it. I was surprised until I remembered that nothing about PS surprises me. It was of course, only hearsay, even if I could remember where I read it.

I recently bought a windscreen washer bottle cap of Porscheshop....waited over 5 days for it , then rang them and they said it was special order and will be a few more days, got the cap 2 days later and its the wrong one ! [], but can't be arse sending it back !

I've been selling Porsche parts for almost 25 years, just about make a living, but I enjoy it, have made lots of friends and having worked on the cars try to help with any problems and know what parts work where.
This is not intended to be an advert (not allowed) and you all can choose where to buy your parts.
Give the smaller independents a go now and then, you maybe surprised, they know what they are talking about, most times cheaper, one to one contact, etc etc. and as they say "˜use it or loose it' once all the smaller independents are gone the larger companies can charge what they like. Rant over, have a good day

Hearsay? Nope I was there since it was my tame mechanic who declined to fit it. The belt supplied by PorscheShop for a 944 S2 identifies itself as

"'Premier Timing Belt (the symbol of quality) PCB0003' manufactured by 'BRT'. The pack also contains the addition information of 'Pack Code 3785' and 'Application: Suzuki (for full application details please see the Premier Catalogue)'"

Oh... and whilst we're at it, PorscheShop just supplied me with two RHS window scraper seals when I ordered a left and a right. They're quite happy to accept the return of one of them but expect me to pay for the postage even though it was their screw up.

Dunno why I keep dealing with these idiots. "Convenience" I guess, it avoids a drive over to my local OPC to collect the bits. I must make the effort to avoid them where at all possible in future.

Glenn, usually cheaper at the OPC or ECP. Any good OPCs will post out for gratis if you buy your bits solely from them, talk nicely to the parts manager.

I knew that I hadnt imagined it Glenn! Me saying it = hearsay. You saying it = a bad experience shared. [:D]

Paul at Reading OPC is a very helpful guy.

Actually I quite enjoy dropping into my local OPC. I can wander around looking at all the cars and making snippy comments about flappy-paddle gearboxes, saloons and SUVs. "I remember when Porsche used to make sportscars... " etc [;)]

It also greatly amuses me to panic them by attempting to pay cash. [8D]

Its their name that pulls people in Bert. You should consider a trading name change to: Porschparts from Berlyn Services.

I've always had great service from Bert - his website is also pretty good (apart from some of the descriptions defying my attempts to search for them :) )
