C2S Power Upgrade

Hi everyone,

First posting so please indulge my ignorance.

I'm about to buy a 1997 993 C2S Low miles etc. but I have been told by the vendor that the car has had a dealer fit engine upgrade from 285 to 300bhp. My questions: is this a common upgrade, how is it acheived ie electronic or otherwise and is it something i should be concerned about?

TIA

Brian

Thank you for your thoughts Maurice, I will check with the dealer first thing tomorrow.. most enlightening! First mention that I've had of it being 3.8 engine, so would there have to be a piston/barrel change for just 15bhp over the standard or could there be another way? HPI has come back with it as a 3.6 Litre beastie (doen't mean a lot I know) so it should be an interesting chat tomorrow!

Have spoken to the well known Porsche specialist this am, armed with the info from Maurice, he has back-tracked somewhat from his original claims of it being original fit to it being a chipped and sports exhausted (sorry about the English grammar) 3.6 example. Salesmen eh? A big thank you to Maurice.[:)]

The car has done 19k miles from new, one owner, no engine rebuilds thankfully so I'm naturally still interested. I'll let the group know how I get on (equipped with my PCGB 993 buyers guide!) after the test drive on Saturday 31st. Hopefully its the 'right one' and it will be coming back up to Cheshire same day.

If anyone has any further thoughts on the 'chipping' etc I'd be grateful to hear them.

Cheers

Yer on. If your ever in the vicinity of the Plough, Croft,Cheshire let me know and they're yours. Pleased to see you're a Bushmill's man, Maurice. Once again thanks for the heads up.

Cheers

Hey Brian, If you're only over at Croft, I hope you'll be showing off your car at the North West monthly meeting![8D]

Hi Graham,

I'll take that invitation, just got to see if the car is right and the Switch card can handle it on Saturday and we're away. You all meet up on the 11th February, am I right?

Cheers
