Buying my first Porsche - Macan Turbo

Good evening

On Thursday I'm travelling 4 hours north to buy a Macan. It has PSCB on it which concerns me as I've asked my local OPC for a quote (discs+pads) and they misunderstood and gave parts only prices which seem very high:

Parts only for front brakes £3,567.78 including VAT

Parts only for rear brakes £2,805.76 including VAT

The Macan is at the Hull OPC and they have replaced the rear discs and pads as part of the prep for the approved car, but the front discs and pads have 58% left so they won't replace them, with my hard driving style I don't think they'll last long. I didn't appreciate these coated brakes are so much more expensive than normal. I turned down another turbo which had PCCB as I knew they were silly money.

I've emailed a couple of local indies for quotes for the brakes too, I assume I can have the brakes done outside OPC and still retain warranty if correct parts?
Can you swap them for standard brakes instead when they wear out?

You'll need to check rotor and calliper compatibility, but my GTS has a similar power output to the Turbo and is fine on its standard brakes.
As regards warranty - you'll need to check your policy, but using OEM replacement parts should be fine.

I would do some more research. Check current rotor size and see if there's a standard steel replacement e.g.. later GTS etc.
You're looking at diameter and thickness. If there's a match just change the rotors and replace the pads. If not then its a replacement of both rotor and calliper - a bit more expense but still cheaper than the coated versions, I would think..
Nowadays I believe Porsche only offer steel or ceramic options.
Incidentally, why do the callipers need replacement rather than just the rotors? Are they leaking, damaged or something?

Porsche have just confirmed you cannot swap to steel without losing warranty and it would require new callipers.

Anyone else know how long these coated brakes last in the real world with aggressive driving? 30k is the OPC quote, but that's like the 25mpg, never happens.
 
If you are assuming that you can get an Indy to change anything and retain the Porsche Approved Warranty I'd suggest you read the Approved Warranty T's and C's first. The selling OPC should provide you with a copy. You can download it from the Porsche site but the terms change occasionally and I'd suggest reading whatever they are selling it with.
 
Have you asked Hull OPC for a price to do the front brakes inc club discount?
As you are buying from them you might be able to haggle etc…and then have peace of mind plus warranty.
