Broken Mileometer and trip meter

Hello All
I know this is not a new subject but when I have some information really worth mentioning I felt it was worth making it generally known.
After 219398 miles the mileometer and trip meter suddenly stopped working. A quick check on the forum and a chat with Charles Marsland I was sure it was down to broken plastic gear wheels in the speedo unit. The actual speedometer worked normally.
I messaged Steve Edwards, our Register Secretary, and he sent me a list of possible repairers. I recognised JDO Instruments who I had previously used to repair the VDO clock that stopped working.
I checked with Steve Sayers at JDO Instruments and he was happy to repair the unit. The time scale went like this:
Sunday - unit failed
Monday - establisher fault and repairer, remove unit from car.
Tuesday - post unit to JDO Instruments by Special Delivery
Wednesday - unit repaired
Thursday - unit posted back to me by Special Delivery
Friday - unit arrive, fitted and car tested. Everything working fine.
Cost, including Special Delivery that has £750/1000 insurance cover in each direction = £180.20

I am most happy with the service from JDO Instruments. If you need their help check the website or call Steve on 01535 603570.
Keep them rolling.
