Brembo Calipers

My understanding is that (unless the porsche script is cast into the caliper) the casting will be the same but the machining for the different size pistons will be different. Remember they are produced in two separate parts so I would have thought for one car e.g. S2 you'd cast 4 outside sections and 4 inside sections, then machine out the 4 different diameter holes for the pistons (rear calipers much smaller pistons) then bolt together. Mind you, I'm no expert on engineering and production.....[:D]

Im sure that we all know that our calipers can be reversed and used on the oposite side of the car (by swapping over the crossover pipe and bleed nipple), but it has occurred to me that I dont know the answer to the following question:

Are nearside and offside calipers similar, or is there a specific casting made for each application. What Im particularly looking to establish is whether the position of the large and small pistons remains the same on each side, i.e. large to the top of the car meaning that both castings are unique, or large at the top on one side and the bottom on the other, meaning one casting used for both with pipes and nipples swapped.

I dont want to put anyone to the trouble of looking for me, because I have a spare set of my own somewhere, but if anyone knows the answer without having to look then Id be extremely interested to hear.

Thanks. Does anyone know whether the piston positions are inverted on Big Reds / Big Blacks, or whether they are actually cast or machined differently too?
