Brake pipes

When trying to replace hoses on front brakes tonight I manage to twist steel brake pipe on drivers side, possibly because it was slightly corroded. Removed arch liner and pipe goes to 'ABS'?

1. Can I buy new pipe from Porsche? How much?
2. Should I get new pipe made up by local garage? Is fitting that goes at 'ABS' end standard or special.

My big problem is time, I am booked in for full geometry set up Friday morning and have trackday booked the following Friday.

Any help gratefully received.

If you don't have the eqipment to make it yourself then just get a loocal garage to make you one. They are standard flare fittings. Nothing special you can buy the flare fittings for about 50p each.
 
Send me a picture of which pipe as i have just removed an abs system and can send you the pipe with unions you need

This. And if you get a local garage to make you one up they will use cunifer pipe (rather than the original steel) which won't rust.

New pipe shouldn't cost more than a fiver to get made up, including the cost of the fittings.

if you replace with copper pipe which is 99% of the time a top tip is a little copper grease under the union nut it will not bond to the pipe for future removal if you dont do this after a week you wont get the pipe off without breaking it

Shame you're not nearer (ie at least in the same Country if not County....) I'd make up the pipe for your FOC :)
 
Ditto. I don't know why more people don't have a go at this. Flaring tool and cutter - around a tenner. 25 foot of brake pipe - about a tenner. Flare nuts - around 50p each. Enough spare pipe to practice and the satisfaction of eventaually being able to do the job yourself - priceless!! Garage money saved - hundreds!!!!! [:)]
 
Thanks for the advice and offers of help, went to local garage today after work to ask if they could make me new pipe. They said bring up old pipe and we will make one. Went home removed pipe and took it to them, 10 minutes later new brake pipe. Easier than I thought, although that is probably the shortest pipe on the car.

Off to the garage now to fit it.

Since brake lines are ridiculous priced items, i prefer making them myself

Never bled the brakes on my 944T - Promax did though however if ABF is fitted is there a special procedure to ensure the ABS system is purged of air?

I only ask as on many cars it is a PITA to fully clear the air from the ABS
 
Ok, fine, just asking as they are a potential airlock positioned where the unit is, thanks
 
On some Audi's you also have to blled the master cylinder (not 944) and you may have to plug the VAG software in to cycle the ABS whilst bleeding, this applies to Audi's and not 944's i would go along with what Rob has said bleed as normal.
Once you have the ki,t brake pipes area doddle to make, worth the purchase for the tools and fittings as they are relatively cheap and you have them for future jobs.
