Brake bleed

I'm having my brakes bled tomorrow. I seem to recall that it is necessary to plug the car in and have the ABS pulsed with these cars, something to do with the specific brake booster fitted. Can anyone please interpret what I'm trying to say and confirm if this is necessary.

The RSL uses the majority of a Carrera 4 hydraulic system.

I changed the fluid on my 964 RSL to ATF Racing Blue myself.

Didn't need to pulse the ABS. It's vital though not to allow the fluid to drain empty or introduce air into the system.

Before you have the fluid changed: make sure you count the number of pedal presses it takes before the accumulator kicks in otherwise you'll be thinking it's different afterwards.

Hi Ian.

Best to go for a non-synthetic 75W-90 or 80W-90 transmission fluid which will prevent your ring and pinion from wearing out prematurely.

Apart from the specific bosch ABS tester you can't plug the system tester into the abs on the RS anyway. Whoever does it should bleed the accumulator though and the clutch. They should take great care not to let the pump cavitate. Mobil SHC 75-90 would be my choice. It works with our diffs and is factory fill in the GT3 cup too !
