Brake bias valve wanted

Hi all,

as I am planning on installing 996TT calipers and discs this year I am looking for another brake proportioning valve than the standard turbo's in order to keep things right brakewise. Does anybody either have 1 of the following valves to sell - or know where to guide me to in order to buy it??:

5/33 bias Porsche No. 928-355-305-02
5/45 bias Porsche No. 965-355-305-01
5/55 bias Porsche No. 930-355-305-01

If I am getting one of the 911 types I will also install an adjustable brake bias in order to dial in if the brakingforce on the rear wheels will be too much.

TIA

Niels

Niels,

I am by no means an expert on the subject, but here are some points I would consider if i were looking to change the bias valve:

1) Road car bias valves are chosen to ensure that under all foreseeable circumstances you never lock the rear brakes and not the front, this is because the car will likely go into a spin should only the rears lock. However in the interests in increased deceleration and overall stability its desirable to brake the rear somewhat.

2) All 911 derivatives have higher proportion of total vehicle weight on the rear axle than your 944. this means more rear braking force can be applied before the rear wheels lock up. As such 911 valves may not be the best choice for 944's (see 1 above)

3) If you intend to fit an adjustable bias valve you may not need any other valve in the circuit, the adjustable valve performs the front to rear bias.

4) In setting up and adjusting the valve be careful, see 1) above.

I am sure you will find a wealth of information on the subject on the internet you keep searching.

Regards

Where is the Brake Bias valve fitted? My S2 has the ABS disconnected and I'm interested in having an "in Cab" adjustment available.

Currently I use different compound pads to get the balance right, but sometimes I do wish for more braking up front.

I bought a 5/33 when fitting my 993 big reds. Think I got it new from porscha part for about £60
