10% of labour only, though my dealer offers 10% of parts too with an Exclusive Customer card. This does not apply to tyres

You might want to consider a third party for tyres - just make sure they are N rated

Camskill often have the best prices. https://www.camskill.co.uk/

I have a 2015 Boxster 981 2.7L with 23k miles which is due a major service
(8 years rather than mileage) and 4 new Pirelli P Zero tyres. I am booking the car in to my local OPC for the tyres and service as required for the warranty. They have quoted me £1145 for 4 new tyres fitted and £1035 for the major service. As a PCGB member am I entitled to 10% discount on the tyres and service cost ? Any comments will be most welcome.

Last year when ours was serviced by Porsche they did not provide any PCGB discount, the only thing they offered to members was a discount price for the MOT.

Paul,

As a Club member you will be entitled to a 10% discount on parts, which won’t include tyres. Some Centres appear to offer a discount on servicing costs, although this may be subject to individual negotiation, and one of my local Centres charges a lower labour rate for cars more than 4-years old (£190/hr vs £220/hr).

Although you may be able to get a favourable deal on tyres from your Centre I agree with others that it’s worth checking online to see what N-rated tyres are available.

Not sure on the 2.7 tyre size, but for the 3.4 Michelins are now N rated. Worth checking if your tyre size is available in Michelin as it's a much better tyre.

Also try Black Circle tyres, they will have a fitting centre near you.

Don't forget if you have 4 Pirelli tyres fitted by a Pirelli Performance Centre (or I think OPC) you can claim either £100 or £120 back from Pirelli (depends on wheel size) in the form of a pre-paid Mastercard. See p8 of the October Porsche Post or here https://promo.pirelli.com/tyres/en-GB/car/carclub/overview. You first need to check that where you are buying them from is on the Pirelli list. This "cashback" is over and above any discount you negotiate from the seller. I have always found my (not very local) Pirelli Performance Centre matches the best price for N rated tyres from eg Blackcircles etc and then I get the Pirelli refund on top. Service is excellent too.

Thanks for all your comments. I have since contacted my local OPC and they have agreed to offer 10% discount on service parts and labour, excluding the tyres.

It's worth pushing on the cost of the tyres, in my experience my OPC has price matched, or at least got close, to the best price that I have found elsewhere.

Just booked mine in 8 year service and MOT at main dealer . £1500 with 10 percent club discount. Think you got a bargain!

Paul,

The 10% Club discount applies to parts, not to tyres. Phone around other dealers to get a comparative price for the service.

Get a price for the tyres from somewhere like Blackcircles and if lower ask your dealer to match it. As a Club member you can get a £120 voucher with the four Pirellis.
